What a pleasure to welcome back our happy team from last year, with the addition of a new couple of friends! So we had four couples ready to spend four wonderful, exciting ... and clearly hilarious days!
As soon as we arrived, Eric warmed us up with a famous mulled wine 🍷, followed by a Saint-Nectaire raclette 🧀 that delighted our taste buds. Memories of the previous year resurfaced around the crackling fire in the fireplace, in an already warm atmosphere. 🔥🪵
The next morning, we packed a picnic lunch for a hike to the Col de Serre - Pas de Peyrol 🏔️, in brilliant sunshine illuminating the snow-covered landscape. ☀️❄️ Be careful, though, if you slip on the ice!
On New Year's Eve, Patou, our Cantalou friend, led us with headlamps and rucksacks for a great aperitif at the Etang des Bondes and Lac du Roussillou. Béatrice tried her luck by jumping happily into the puddles, hoping to catch some crayfish... and ended up stumbling into the water!
We even bumped into Guillaume, the park warden, who, amused by our laughter, thought we were a bunch of teenagers on the prowl. Thank you Serge for all the laughs! 😂
Back at the house, the open fire warmed us up for a frenzied game of Pictionary on a board, accompanied by an impromptu dance by Jacky and Sylvia, who obviously love sardines! 🕺 💃
Sylvia, thanks to her culinary skills and her course at the Vabret school, delighted our taste buds. 👩🏻🍳
At midnight, the champagne flowed freely to celebrate the New Year! 🍾 🥂
On January 1, two brave souls, Eric and Laurent, braved the dawn to admire the sunrise at Font Sainte. 🌄
Returning with miraculous water in their pockets! The rest of the group woke up gently, their desire to go for a walk gradually coming to the fore. 🥾
In the evening, we headed to our cousin Arnaud's buron for a masterly sunset, followed by a candlelit aperitif. 🕯️
Back home, we played board games by the fire. 🎲
On 2 January, everyone celebrated Beatrice's birthday with a sparkling surprise: champagne and cake, of course! 🎂 🥳
In the afternoon, we visited Christian Mercier's farm to find out how Saint-Nectaire cheese is made. 🧀
The evening continued in Jean-Francois's barn (also a cousin), between champagne on their hay bales to admire his mischievous little calves. 🐂
With a heavy heart but a mind full of memories and friendship, we said goodbye on the morning of 3 January. ❤️
A huge thank you to Arnaud, Jean-François and Rémy for welcoming us to their GAEC Beyle Salers farms, to Patou and Sylvia for their kindness and culinary delights, and to Christian for the fascinating tour.
And of course, thanks to all of you: Béatrice, Jacky, Chantal, Fred, Laurent, Sophie, Serge and Nathalie, for your enthusiasm and good humour! See you soon!
And above … Mainatja te ! 💚
